Only 6 layouts to go until I have finished my daughter's first year! In 2008 we had her dedication. Inside the pocket is the 2 readings, read by friends and family. Her song was Butterfly by Delta Goodrem (hence the butterfly).
Hi Heather :) We had the poem "Children Learn What They Live" by Dorothy Law Nolte and Rachel Harris. http://www.noogenesis.com/pineapple/Kristone.html We also had a reading from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. http://www.katsandogz.com/onchildren.html These are both marginally different verses from what we had. It was such a long time ago I can't recall much else! Overall we just wanted to dedicate our lives to bringing Charlotte up in a Christ-like manner. It wasn't overly religious but I do like the idea of looking to Christ (and others) in bringing up children, as a role model to look up to and be guided by. We lit a candle and we had everyone join in a prayer of dedication to helping us stay on track with the way we want to bring her up (and to help as well, like it takes a community bring up a child kind of thing). It's been quite good re-reading the verses and making a re-commitment. :)
What were the readings you did? What else was part of the ceremony?
